Jason Jamal Jackson performs as 03 Greedo. He is a rapper, singer, songwriter, and producer from Watts, Los Angeles. The 2016 Purple Summer mixtape series was his first major project. After his major mixtape, The Wolf of Grape Street, he became even more prominent. God Level, his first studio album, premiered on June 26, 2018.

He was sentenced to 20 years in jail in July 2018 for drug trafficking and gun possession. On January 8, 2023, 03 Greedo was announced to be freed from prison on January 12. Despite prison, he has created and released music.

Michael and Lisa Jackson had Jason Jamal Jackson on July 26, 1987, in West Los Angeles. His father died in a motorcycle accident when Jackson was a year old. The family had recently bought a house in Gardena, California, where Jackson, his sister, and brother were raised. The youngest of three siblings. The family lived near the Chester Washington Golf Course in Los Angeles before his father’s death. He needed a tympanostomy tube for recurring ear infections as a toddler.

Jackson discovered he was pregnant with his high school girlfriend at 17. He sold music beats and performed retail jobs to prepare for his daughter. He eventually sold narcotics to support his family. Jackson was expelled from home when his mother got tired of his disrespect. After abandoning his old home, he sought sanctuary with friends, including his daughter’s mother. He was also homeless. After moving to Watts, he moved to Jordan Downs Housing Projects.

Jackson released six mixtapes under the pseudonym Greedy Giddy, including the Bipolar series, Everybody Weak, and Money, Powder, Regrets, which he produced. Southern rap inspired his auto-tuned harmonies and catchy trap instrumentals. Some recordings from this period are available on DatPiff, YouTube, and Tumblr despite its fragmentation.

Jackson, as Greedy Giddy, published multiple SoundCloud tracks between 2014 and 2016. In 2016, he changed his name to 03 Greedo and self-produced Purple Summer and Purple Summer 2: Sun Don’t Shine. Golden Grenade Empire, his label, was founded that year. By 2017, Jackson released Purple Summer 03: Purple Hearted Soldier, First Night Out, and Money Changes Everything mixtapes. Jackson discovered Tulsa rapper Co Signed Drop 3 Hot in 2017. Jackson signed with Todd Moscowitz’s Alamo Records for a record $1 million. Jackson published The Wolf of Grape Street in March 2018 and God Level in June 2018 on this label.
