How to Change Your Username on Threads

Instagram’s new Threads app is here to compete with Twitter, and you’ve probably already downloaded it. Now that you have followed all of your favorite creators and friends on Threads, you may be wondering if you can also change your username. You can, but not in the way you might expect. Here is how to change your Threads username.

Because you log in to Threads with your Instagram account, Instagram and Threads share your basic information. Therefore, to change your Threads username, you must also change your Instagram username.

Tap your profile icon in the Instagram app, then tap ‘Edit Profile’.

Tap on the ‘Username‘ field and type in your desired username. Tap on ‘Done‘.

Once you change your username on Instagram, it will be automatically updated in the Threads app as well. You can check this by going to your profile in the Threads app.

While you cannot change your Threads username directly from the app, you can modify other basic profile information, such as your Threads Bio, Links, and whether your Threads profile is public or private. To make these modifications, please follow the steps listed below.
