Singer and actress Jane Birkin has died

According to French media, singer and actress Jane Birkin passed away at the age of 76.

The English-French actress, who served as the model for the Hermès Birkin expensive handbag, was discovered at her residence by her caretaker, according to BFMTV.

She started out as an actress and became well-known all over the world for her on and off-screen marriage to Serge Gainsbourg.

The two got to know each other while co-starring in the French satirical romantic comedy Slogan in 1969. That same year, they also released their debut album.

Birkin kept working after they broke up in 1980, making a number of solo albums and participating in various movies.

After injuring her shoulder in March 2022, the singer was forced to cancel three gigs in Paris scheduled for May.
