Katy Perry once turned down an opportunity to work with Billie Eilish, according to a TikTok video shared by radio station 102.7 KIIS FM.
The Small Talk singer is seen remembering the one time she had the opportunity to collaborate with the Ocean Eyes artist in the 23-second film, which appears to have been shot at a private gathering in Los Angeles. Perry expressed her sorrow over not forward with the alleged partnership while opening up about the situation.
The video barely made it to the internet before multiple Twitter users, including many Eilish fans, mocked the American Idol judge. The general judgment was that it was more than gratifying for Eilish, as Ocean Guys earned a lot of public attention for her.
A user even mocked Katy Perry for not having won a Grammy, as opposed to Eilish, who has seven. Take a look at some of the Twitter reactions:
Ocean Eyes, the 2015 Billie Eilish song that Katy Perry was referring to, was posted on SoundCloud as the former’s debut song, and it was also included in her debut EP, Don’t Smile at Me (2017). Ocean Eyes was a financial and critical success, debuting at 84 on the US Billboard Hot 100.
After the song, Eilish became a household name, and she went on to win five Grammys in 2020, including one in the ‘Best New Artist’ category. She won her next two Grammys in 2021, as well as an Academy Award (Oscar) for No Time to Die in the category of ‘Best Original Song’ that same year.
